ProBleu is an ambitious initiative funded by the Horizon Europe Programme of the European Union, designed to enhance ocean and water literacy and sustainability awareness among school communities across Europe. It aims to elevate environmental consciousness among young minds, shaping the future of our planet.
Objectives
Expand the Network of European Blue Schools: ProBleu will significantly augment this network by introducing innovative educational resources and providing substantial support to over 100 educational institutions.
Empowerment through Education: The project focuses on empowering schools to develop and implement innovative educational projects. These projects will deepen students’ understanding of pressing environmental issues such as pollution (including eutrophication and plastics), climate change, and overfishing.
Aligning with EU’s “Restore our Oceans and Waters” Mission: At the core of ProBleu is the commitment to support the EU’s mission to protect and rejuvenate aquatic ecosystems. By aligning with this vision, ProBleu contributes to the broader goal of restoring the health of seas, oceans, and continental waters.
EUnexus’s Key Roles in the ProBleu Project
1. Conducting Informative Seminars on EU Blue Schools Application:
EUnexus plays a crucial role in organizing and leading seminars aimed at educating schools about the application process for the EU Blue Schools program. These seminars provide comprehensive guidance on how to successfully become a part of the Network of European Blue Schools, underlining the benefits and responsibilities that come with this designation. The focus is on ensuring that schools are well-equipped with the necessary information and tools to join this expansive network.
2. Promoting Ocean Literacy in Estonian Schools:
A primary focus for EUnexus within the ProBleu project is to enhance ocean literacy in Estonian schools. This involves curating and delivering tailored educational content and resources that resonate with Estonia’s unique cultural and environmental context. The goal is to deepen students’ and educators’ understanding of marine ecosystems, sustainability issues, and the critical role oceans play in our global environment.
3. Disseminating ProBleu Funding Opportunities to Estonian Schools:
